Royal College of Art alumni Ka Wa Key Chow showcased his new menswear collection at the DiscoveryLAB show space during London Menswear Fashion Week on Monday. He launched his award-winning label Ka Wa Key in 2016 which is inspired by both Eastern and Western cultures, combining traditional design with the latest technology. Chow has also showcased his collections at the New York, Shanghai and Tokyo Fashion Weeks.
His new SS19 presentation was inspired by pictures of young monks and consisted of an experimental on-going performance. The collection entitled “The Picture of a Monk” is an imaginative story of one of the monks imagining and dreaming about being one of the models in the works of photographer Ren Hang. Chow reimagines traditional textile crafts and reworks everyday street wear with an unusual balance of simplicity and soft masculinity. The visual of the performance was put together by Finnish born Arts MA graduate Jarno Leppanen.
The brand’s current London stockists include 50m and Verv.
